Descaled Stainless Steel, is defined as an alloy with a minimum of 11% chromium content by mass. Stainless steel does not stain, corrode, or rust as easily as ordinary steel. There are different grades and surface finishes of stainless steel to suit the environment to which the material will be subjected to in it's lifetime. Descaled panels are used as a backing to polished stainless steel as not to cause oxidisation, and/or as a painted panel where exposure to the elements is an issue.
